Daniel Keilwitz and Christian Hohenadel take the win in the second Silverstone GT3 race !

After an incredibly turbulent race, Christian Hohenadel and Daniel Keilwitz, in the nr101 Callaway Competition Corvette Z06R GT3, took the win, despite having a drive-through penalty for crossing the line at the pit entry lane. The nr1 Hexis AMR of Manuel Rodrigues and Frederic Makowiecki finished in second place, while Jose Luis Cunill and Time Bergmeister took third place in the nr20 Trackspeed Porsche 911 GT3 R.
The race got going on a wet track, and after the clean start of the first race, the second one was not so smooth. Pole setter Dino Lunardi, in the nr18 Toni Seiler Racing Corvette Z06 GT3 that he shares with Toni Seiler, spun at the first corner and ended his hopes for a win; he eventually  finished 13th. The car that shared the first row, the nr21 Trackspeed Porsche 911 GT3 of Ashburn and Ragginger suffered a rear right puncture and made its way back to the pits to fit a new tyre, also losing its lead. [It was later excluded from the race, having used a tyre from the nr20 car]. The lead was quickly taken up by Hohenadel in the nr101 Corvette, who kept hold of it until lap 7 when the nr12 Mülhner Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R of Häring and Estre caught up and started to fight for the lead. Estre overhead and led until lap 12 where Estre spun off.  Having suffered some damage, he returned to the pits where he retired.
As the pit window opened, the line at the pit caused a number of problems, with 6 cars having to take drive- through penalties, having cut the line.
After the pit stops, the nr87 Chad Racing Ferrari 430 Scuderia of Giacomo Petrobelli and Diego Alessi which had been slowly climbing up the field, took the lead, but having failed to pit during the pit window, he received a 3.42 minute stop and go penalty.
Having started 5th, the nr61 fought long and strong, stuck behind the nr101 until after the pit stops, finally taking the lead in lap 19. However, a few moments later, Paul van Splunteren drove off and got stuck in the gravel at Maggots, losing the lead and finishing the race in 23rd.
This left Keilwitz in the nr101 to take the win with a comfortable 10.095 seconds. Manuel Rodrigues took the nr1 Hexis AMR Aston Martin DBRS9 into second place, with the nr20 Trackspeed Porsche, yesterday’s winner, driven by Jose Luis Cunill closing in in third place.
The nr25 Argo Racing Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 of Philip Geipel and Ellen Lohr finished 4th, with Geipel producing another impressive feat after yesterday’s performance, when he took over from Lohr, and brought the car all the way up to 4th , having started 22nd. The nr77 Need for Speed by Schubert Motorsport BMW Z4 of Csaba Walter and Claudia Hürtgen finished 5th, and were also the highest placed BMW. The highest scoring Ford GT, the nr14 Fischer Racing Ford GT of Mikko Eskelinen and Christoffer Nygaard, came in 6th place. Hexis’ second car, the nr2 Hexis AMR Aston Martin DBRS9 of Paillard and Accary, came in 7th. 8th place went to the nr6 Sainteloc-Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS of Lemeret and Franchi.
With 7 makes in the top 8, this is an impressive score for the first weekend of the season.
